2020 Mayor’s Scholarship for Community Leadership Established in 2016 




Call for Applications

Mayor Brian Bowman invites you to apply for the Mayor’s Scholarship for Community Leadership.

This scholarship awards up to five (5) $1,000 scholarships to recognize students who have demonstrated consistent and outstanding dedication to solving a community problem or making their community a better place to live. The Mayor’s Scholarship rewards the achievements of Winnipeg’s young leaders and supports them to reach their educational and career goals. Community leadership can be demonstrated through activities that promote racial and social inclusion, drive reconciliation, encourage environmental stewardship, support and empower Winnipeg’s less fortunate, along  with many other activities and initiatives that make Winnipeg a place we are all proud to call home.
The scholarships will be presented by Mayor Brian Bowman.


WHO IS ELIGIBLE:

  • High school graduates with a minimum overall grade average of 70% 
  • Those entering their first year in post-secondary education on a full-time basis at a recognized college or university in the City of Winnipeg 
  • Those who have made a significant contribution to Winnipeg and demonstrated outstanding community leadership 

SUBMITTING AN APPLICATION:

Applications must be submitted online here and include three letters of reference to ensure it is considered by the selection panel. Please  be sure to include accurate contact information for yourself and references as this information will be  used for official correspondence. Applications close on June 12, 2020 at 4:30 p.m. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
