French for the Future National Essay Contest

Deadline: December 17th, 2022 

Award Amount: $1,000 - $12,000 

Can be used at any of the following institutions: University of Ottawa (ON), Université Sainte-Anne (NS), Université de Moncton (NB), Université Saint-Boniface (MB), University of Alberta's Campus Saint-Jean (AB), Laurentian University (ON), Glendon College of York University (ON). 

Who can apply? 

  • Canadian students in grades 10-12.  

  • French as a Second Language (FSL): students enrolled in Core, Immersion, or Extended programs 

  • French First Language (FFL): francophone/francophone equivalency students 

What will I have to do? 

  • Write and submit a 750-word essay in French on this year's chosen theme: In a future where everything is possible, how will the food we eat and the way it is produced have changed?

Burger King Scholarship

Deadline: December 15th, 2022 

Award Amount: $1,000 to $50,000 
 
Who can apply? 

  • Be living in the United States, Canada or Puerto Rico 

  • Be graduating high school seniors (U.S. and Puerto Rico), graduating from grade 12 (Canada) or graduating from home school education in the U.S., Puerto Rico or Canada 

  • Have a cumulative high school grade point average of 2.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale, or the equivalent 

  • Plan to enroll full-time, without interruption, for the entire 2020-21 academic year at an accredited two- or four-year college, university or vocational-technical school in the U.S., Canada or Puerto Rico

Terry Fox Humanitarian Award

Deadline: December 1st, 2022 

Award Amount: Up to $28,000 
 
Who can apply? 

  • Students in good academic standing. 

  • Canadian citizens or landed immigrants. 

  • Students graduating from secondary (high) school or students completing their first year of CÉGEP or students who have completed secondary (high) school 

  • Involved in voluntary humanitarian activities (for which they have not been compensated). 

  • Planning to or are already studying towards their first university degree or diploma at a Canadian post-secondary institution or entering their 2nd year of CÉGEP in the upcoming academic year. 

 
What will I have to do? 

  • Applicants must provide three (3) referees and upload online an (un)official transcript detailing the applicant’s last two years of schooling (official transcripts, sealed by the issuing institution will be requested from applicants who are selected for an interview). Referees will be emailed a link requesting they complete an online Referee Form on behalf of the applicant. 

  • The online application, including all the accompanying documents, must be completed and submitted online by the deadline – before midnight. Applications and all documentation (including Referee Forms and unofficial transcripts) received after that date will not be considered, nor will they be held over for the next year.

TD Canada Trust Scholarships for Community Leadership

Deadline: November 15th, 2022 

Award Amount: Up to $70,000. And up to 20 scholarships available! 
 
Who can apply? 

  • Available to graduating high school students who have made a difference in their communities.  

  • Outstanding community leadership 

  • Academic performance (minimum 75% average)

Manitoba Beef Producers Scholarship


Deadline: November 4th, 2022 

Award Amount: Six scholarships worth $1,000 
   
Who can apply? 

  • Must be at least 17 years of age as of January 1, 2022. 

  • Must be an active Manitoba beef producer or the child of an active Manitoba beef producer. Note: This can also include active beef producers returning to school after a period of time in the workforce. 

  • Post-secondary programs or trades training must be a minimum of one year in duration 

What will I have to do? 

  • The completed application form 

  • Either a typed 600-word (maximum) essay OR a 5-7-minute maximum video submission (NEW) discussing the topic “What the beef industry means to my family, my community and Manitoba.” Also, you need to identify in the essay or video the reasons you enjoy being involved in agriculture 

  • A copy of your transcript (either high school, or a recognized college, university or trade school) 

  • Proof of enrolment in a recognized institution (current transcript, or your acceptance letter, or a letter of intent indicating your intended institution and field of study for 2022-23) 

  • A list of your community involvement (e.g. 4-H, community clubs, volunteer work, etc.) 

  • The names of two references, including their addresses and telephone numbers.

The RE/MAX Quest for Excellence Scholarship Program

ABOUT THE SCHOLARSHIP

Are you active in your community, or do you have ideas on how to make it a better place to call "home?" Submit an essay up to 1,250 words, and you could win $1,000. Answer one of these questions:

1. What does a "bright future" look like for you?

2. How have you demonstrated leadership or charity within your community to make it a better place?

3. How can we ensure fair and affordable housing for all Canadians?

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

To be eligible, entrants must be a Grade 12 student attending high school in Canada in the September 2022-2023 academic year. Entrants must have not previously participated in a commencement ceremony.

HOW TO APPLY

Submit an online essay from September 12, 2022 to March 13, 2023.
