MANITOBA BEEF PRODUCERS SCHOLARSHIP

Manitoba Beef Producers is pleased to make available six $500 scholarships annually for MBP members or their children attending a university, college, other post-secondary institution or pursuing trades training. Preference will be given to those students pursuing a field of study related to agriculture or to those acquiring a skilled trade or pursuing a career that would be beneficial to the rural economy.

Completed applications and supporting documents must be submitted by 4:30 p.m. Friday, November 5, 2021. A selection committee will review the submissions. Winners will be notified by December 14, 2021. 

The scholarship criteria is as follows: 

Eligibility:  

• Must be at least 17 years of age as of January 1, 2021. 
• Must be an active Manitoba beef producer or the child of an active Manitoba beef producer. Note: This can include beef producers returning to school after a period of time in the workforce. 
• Post-secondary program or trades training must be a minimum of one year in duration. 

Items You Are Required to Submit: 

• Completed application form; 
• A typed 600-word (maximum) essay discussing “What the beef industry means to my family, my community and Manitoba.” Also include the reasons you enjoy being involved in agriculture.*; 
• A copy of your transcript (either high school, or a recognized college, university or trade school); 
• Proof of enrolment in a recognized institution (current transcript, or your acceptance letter, or a letter of intent indicating your intended institution and field of study). 
• A list of community involvement (e.g. 4-H, community clubs, volunteer work, etc.); and, 
• The names of two references, including their addresses and telephone numbers.

Manitoba Young Liberals Scholarship

 ELIGIBILITY

§  The Manitoba Young Liberal Scholarships are open to youth aged 16 to 25 who are entering, or are currently enrolled in, a Manitoba post-secondary institution.

 

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS

1. A completed application form

2. A written essay

§  The essay should discuss the applicant’s vision for the future of Manitoba, and answer the question, “If you were elected Premier of Manitoba, what would you do?”

§  Additional essay requirements: 1000 word maximum, word processed, double spaced, 12-point font (Arial or Times New Roman)

 

AVAILABLE SCHOLARSHIPS

§  Three (3) scholarships each worth $500

 

AWARDING OF SCHOLARSHIPS

§  One $500 scholarship will be awarded to a student from Winnipeg

§  One $500 scholarship will be awarded to a student from outside of Winnipeg

§  One additional $500 scholarship will be awarded to an Indigenous student or to a student who immigrated to Canada in the last 5 years, who is from Winnipeg or outside of Winnipeg

§  Winners will be announced in June, 2021. Winners must agree to have their photo taken with the certificate and allow this picture to be published, both printed and electronically.

G3 GROW BEYOND SCHOLARSHIP

G3 GROW BEYOND SCHOLARSHIP CONTEST 

 G3 is pleased to partner with Agriculture in the Classroom Canada (AITC-C) for six scholarships available to students entering a post-secondary program. Recipients will demonstrate a passion for exploring innovation and technology in agriculture through their post-secondary studies. The following is a summary of the scholarship contest, please refer to the Contest Rules for complete terms and conditions. 

PROGRAM SUMMARY 

SCHOLARSHIP DETAILS 

Six G3 Grow Beyond Scholarships will be awarded across Canada. 

• Each scholarship is valued at $4,000, payable in one sum. 

• The scholarships may be used at any Canadian post-secondary institution, including provincially recognized community colleges and universities. 

        o The scholarship is intended for any field of study. 

        o In addition to winning the scholarship, the winning students’ high schools will also receive            a cash donation ($1,000) to be used to further develop its innovative initiatives. 

• Scholarship will be presented by a G3 team member or designated representative.

SCHOLARSHIP CRITERIA 

Eligible applicants must be: 

     • attending a Canadian high school; 

     • graduating in 2021; and 

     • planning to enroll at a Canadian post-secondary institution in a first-year degree or diploma         program. 

     • Scholarship not open to residents of Quebec.

The Canadian Scholarship Trust Foundation (CSTF) is Giving Away $150,000 in Bursaries Through myBlueprint

We're excited to announce that we’ve partnered with the Canadian Scholarship Trust Foundation (CSTF) to give away $150,000 in bursaries.

You read that right.

$150,000 going straight to students to help them realize their dreams of going to post-secondary.

This one’s a little different though.

“While Canada is among one of the most educated countries in the world, this is not true for everyone. Equitable access to PSE is an ongoing challenge, and especially so for those from low-income families.” (CSTF)

That’s where CSTF comes in. They’re focused on supporting access to post-secondary studies for those who believe in the power of education but are struggling to access it.

So, these bursaries are designed specifically to support students who have financial need.

Here's what you need to know:

• There are 25 bursaries, each valued at $6,000
• The bursaries are based on financial need
• CSTF is specifically looking for students who demonstrate strong character: resiliency, community-mindedness and commitment to excellence

North American Van Lines 2021 Logistics Scholarship Competition

At North American Van Lines, we strive to be fully and consistently committed toward cultivating the future of young professionals across Canada and beyond—this is why we place the importance of quality education above arguably all other metrics when it comes to our priorities as an organization.

We don’t simply feel that education is important—we factor it into our central philosophy, in everything from our business practices to our way of life. Because of this, we’re excited to begin offering the opportunity for qualifying Canadian students to receive our new scholarship, intended for students in the area of business, logistics, and similar fields, with four lucky winners being selected to receive an award amount of $1,000 each. • Total award - $2,000; Number of awards given – 2.
• Maximum award - $1,000 per winner.
• Award amount will be made out to your school in the form of a check, and mailed to your personal address.

St. John's College: Are you attending the University of Manitoba in the fall?

 

St John’s College is a small college situated on the north perimeter of the University of Manitoba’s Fort Garry campus. The College invites any student who has been accepted by a faculty or school of the University of Manitoba to become a member. College members receive their degrees from the U of M, and enjoy complete access to all courses, services and facilities of both the University of Manitoba and St John’s College. While the University of Manitoba has over 30,000 students, only 1000 are members of St John’s, making it much easier for students to make social and academic connections and feel at home on campus.

We understand that the pandemic has affected student lives and as such, we continue to focus on enriching students’ university experiences, as best as possible. The College adapted its operations to address the health and safety concerns brought about by the coronavirus. Since the closure of the Fort Garry Campus due to COVID-19, St John’s College has maintained its residence operations and continued to safely provide housing and food to students who were unable to return home, or had nowhere else to live. As the university transitions towards a gradual re-opening, we are hopeful to increase our support to students as well.

St John’s College provides a home base where they can meet other students through our Jumpstart program in September or through intramural sports and social events organized by the St John’s College Student Association. There are lockers, study facilities (including private carrels) and a computer lab at the College, so College members have a place to study between classes. They also get a 10% discount at the Daily Bread Café and Pizza Joe (located in our building), which means they’ll always be fuelled up with coffee and snacks for crunch time!

Student Residence:

Commuter students can sometimes have trouble connecting to campus. St John’s College Residence is an excellent option for students looking for a more immersive university experience. Our residence is a diverse community of 100 residents. The residence is all single dorm style rooms and includes a full meal plan.

Academic Support:

At St John’s, students can access additional, personalized support. The College Registrar is trained in academic coaching and can provide guidance for College members in their studies. The Chaplain holds volunteer events, runs discussion groups, and is also available for all students who need someone to talk to about their problems, be they spiritual, social or personal.

Scholarships/Bursaries:

Finally, St John’s College members are eligible for more than $125,000 in exclusive awards, bursaries and scholarships. There are a number of scholarships specifically for first-year students coming straight from high school. The deadline to apply is April 1st or July 31st (depending on the award), so make sure you are ready!

Mayor's Scholarship for Community Leadership

Mayor Brian Bowman invites you to apply for the Mayor's Scholarship for Community Leadership.

This scholarship awards up to five (5) $1,000 scholarships to recognize students who have demonstrated consistent and outstanding dedication to solving a community problem or making their community a better place to live. The Mayor's Scholarship rewards the achievements of Winnipeg's young leaders and supports them to reach their educational and career goals. Community leadership can be demonstrated through activities that promote racial and social inclusion, drive reconciliation, encourage environmental stewardship, support and empower Winnipeg's less fortunate, along with many other activities and initiatives that make Winnipeg a place we are all proud to call home. 

Who is eligible?

• High school graduates with a minimum overall grade average of 70%
• Those entering their first year in post-secondary education on a full-time basis at a recognized college or university in the City of Winnipeg
• Those who have made a significant contribution to Winnipeg and demonstrated outstanding community leadership

 2021 Boys and Girls Clubs of Winnipeg Bursary Application

Boys and Girls Clubs of Canada is pleased to offer post-secondary scholarships to eligible youth members from across Canada. Scholarships will be provided to youth for the 2021-2022 academic year. Applicants must be enrolled in a full-time or part-time program at an accredited post-secondary educational institution beginning in September 2021.

Value of scholarships: $750 - $4,000

Eligibility

To be eligible for a scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:

1. Be a current or former Boys and Girls Club member for a minimum of 1 year.

2. Be a maximum of 24 years of age at the time of application.

3. Be pursuing some form of full-time or part-time post-secondary education (e.g. college, university or trades school; diploma, degree, apprenticeship, or other program) at an accredited post-secondary institution in Canada beginning September 2021. The program must be one year in length at a minimum.

4. The applicant may apply at any point during his or her pursuit of post-secondary education.

5. Full-time employees of the Boys and Girls Club are not eligible (seasonal and part-time employees are eligible to apply).

INDIGENOUS EDUCATION AWARDS

The Business Council of Manitoba is committed to helping Indigenous students attend university or community college.

Who Qualifies:

• You are of Indigenous ancestry 
• You are a citizen of Canada and permanent resident of Manitoba, having resided in Manitoba for the last 12 months
• You plan to enroll in one of the recognized and authorized Manitoba post-secondary institutions in the upcoming academic year, in any discipline (trades, business, general studies, science, etc.)
• You maintain fulltime status (at least a 60% course load)
• You are in need of financial assistance

How to Apply:

• Complete an application form and submit it to the financial services office at the post-secondary institution you will be attending.

Futures Forward Tuition Waiver Program

 Bursary program for current and former youth-in-care.

•  Nine colleges and universities in Manitoba offer a limited amount of Tuition Waivers for current and former youth-in-care 
• Bursary may cover the tuition of a certificate, diploma or undergraduate program* 
• Tuition Waiver students are also eligible for Living Supports through Skills and Employment Partnerships (SEP) to sponsor books, supplies and a biweekly living allowance

Eligibility: 

•  Must be a current or former youth-in-care in Manitoba 
• Meet the program admission requirements and have applied directly to the college or university 
• Be applying for full-time studies (at least 18 credit hours per year or 60% course load) 
• UM, UW, USB, and Booth UC applicants - must demonstrate financial need

Chartered Professional Accountants (CPA) High School Scholarships

The CPA Manitoba Foundation is delighted to award the Chartered Professional Accountants (CPA) High School Scholarships to graduating grade 12 students across Manitoba. Up to thirteen scholarships in the amount of $1,000 each will be awarded, including six awards specifically for students in rural Manitoba.

We are looking for well-rounded students who meet the following criteria:

• Grade 12 student who will be attending one of Manitoba’s universities (students planning to enter a community college or a university outside of Manitoba are not eligible unless the student plans to bridge from college to a Manitoba university);
• Overall average of 80% throughout grades 10 to 12 (based on the most current available information);
• Has an interest in an accounting or business career;
• Is involved in school and community activities.

Transitional Programs to Post-Secondary: resource guide for youth who face barriers to education

 Futures Forward is excited to announce a brand new resource guide to bridge youth with post-secondary education! We know that accessing post-secondary can be tricky – there are so many various schools and programs out there – it can be a lot to navigate and often difficult to find all the information youth need to make an informed decision.  

 

Our hope in providing this guide is that it helps increase awareness of the incredible programs offered throughout Winnipeg that are affordable, accessible, and meet youth’s diverse needs.

It highlights a wide variety of vocational, college, and university programs in Winnipeg, which include:

 

• Transitional Supports that increase students’ readiness for post-secondary education
• Student Supports such as smaller classes sizes, academic advising, tutoring, peer support groups, mentorship programs, counselling, and financial advising
• Academic Supports that increase students’ reading, writing and study skills
• Cultural Supports that nurture the spiritual, physical, mental and emotional strengths of students
• Programs that help students meet preparatory requirements, such as building a portfolio or completing required pre-requisites to professional programs
• May include life skills/vocational training and hands-on work experience
