NATIONAL SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM FOR DEAF & HARD OF HEARING STUDENTS

THE RICK & AMANDA HANSEN SCHOLARSHIP FOR YOUTH WITH DISABILITIES

DEADLINE: MAY 14TH, 2025 AT 11:59 P.M. PACIFIC TIME

AWARD VALUE: Up to $10,000 per year (up to a maximum of $40,000)

CRITERIA:          To be eligible applicants must be;

  • a person with a disability, defined as a functional limitation – whether permanent or episodic – that is compounded by barriers. Attitudinal and physical barriers can prevent the student’s equitable access to meaningful participation in post-secondary education.
  • a Canadian citizen or permanent resident of Canada.
  • eligible for domestic tuition at a publicly funded post-secondary institution or training program at a public university, college or institute in Canada.
  • under 30 years old as of May 14, 2025.
  • enrolling full-time in the eligible academic year for a 1- to 5-year post-secondary program.
  • enrolling in a publicly funded Canadian institution.
  • not receiving other financial awards that total more than $2,500 per year (excluding student loans and automatically awarded entrance scholarships).  
  • responsible for ensuring that any funding received from the Rick & Amanda Hansen Scholarship will not negatively affect the status of any benefits and subsidies that they
    are eligible for.

MARK & DOROTHY DANZKER SCHOLARSHIP

DEADLINE: APRIL 28, 2025 @ NOON

AWARD VALUE: 8 X $1000

CRITERIA:          To be eligible applicants must;

  • be accepted to or be currently enrolled in a university, college, or other recognized post-secondary institution within Canada with a full course load (as defined by the institution)
  • be between the ages of 17 and 25 years
  • be a resident of Manitoba for a minimum of the past six months
  • demonstrate active involvement in preserving ethno-cultural heritage through volunteerism and/or employment
  • have achieved a minimum academic average of 70% 
  • have not been a previous recipient of this scholarship
  • not be a Folklorama Board or staff member or immediate family of same

ADVANCING WOMEN IN SOUND SCHOLARSHIP

DEADLINE: APRIL 15, 2025

AWARD VALUE: $10,000

CRITERIA:          To be eligible applicants must;

  • be a female Manitoba resident.
  • be accepted and registered for the Audio in Media diploma programme.
  • have an overall average academic standing of 70% or higher at the end of the programme when the award is given.
  • Note: This scholarship is awarded to the recipient after successful completion of the Audio in Media diploma programme.

CRITERIA:         

  • between the ages of 8 and 18
  • Permanent residents of and currently residing in Canada
  • Currently working on an inspiring service project or have done so within the past 12 months
  • Working as a individual to lead their service work. The Barron Prize does not accept applications from large groups of young people

RBC FUTURE LAUNCH SCHOLARSHIP FOR INDIGENOUS YOUTH

 DEADLINE: February 5, 2025

AWARD VALUE: 40 awards of $1,000 each CRITERIA:         

  • Status Indian, Non-Status Indian, Inuit or Metis between the ages of 15-29
  • Permanent resident or citizen of Canada
  • Have applied to an accredited post-secondary institution in Canada
  • Have shown strong potential to successfully complete the post-secondary program
  • Require financial assistance

RBC FUTURE LAUNCH SCHOLARSHIP

DEADLINE: Accepting applications all year. Submissions will be reviewed on an ongoing basis.

AWARD VALUE: 500 x $1,500 CRITERIA:          The RBC Future Launch Scholarship will be awarded to those who show passion and a clear vision for their future:

  • For Canadian youth between 15-29 years old
  • Enrolled part-time in school or not in school at all
  • A Canadian Citizen or Permanent resident
  • Grades and transcripts are not required

UNITED WAY YOUTH LEADERS IN ACTION SCHOLARSHIP

DEADLINE: March 4, 2025 AWARD VALUE: $500 x 4 CRITERIA: 

  • Connection with a United Way Winnipeg donor-supported organization
  • Accepted to a full- or part-time post-secondary institution in Winnipeg
  • Demonstrate commitment to academic learning
  • Demonstrate leadership in the local community
  • Demonstrate genuine commitment to neighbourhood/community involvement
  • Priority will be given to those that demonstrate financial need

BURGER KING SCHOLARS PROGRAM

DEADLINE: December 16, 2024  AWARD VALUE: $1,000 - $60,000  CRITERIA: 

  • Be graduating from grade 12;  
  • Have a cumulative high school grade point average of 2.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale, or the equivalent; 
  • Plan to enroll full-time, without interruption, for the entire academic year at an accredited two- or four-year college, university or vocational-technical school or equivalent in the U.S., Puerto Rico, Guam or Canada. 
  • Demonstrates participation in community service and/or extra-curricular activities, work experience.

TD SCHOLARSHIPS FOR COMMUNITY LEADERSHIP

 DEADLINE: November 13, 2024 AWARD VALUE: up to $70,000  CRITERIA: 

  • Have demonstrated community leadership and a genuine interest in making a positive difference in the community;
  • Are in their final year of high school;  
  • Have a minimum overall grade average of 75% in their most recently completed school year. 
  • Are Canadian citizens, have permanent resident status, or have protected person status under the Canadian Immigration and Refugee Protection Act.

BMO FINANCIAL GROUP INDIGENOUS LEADER OF TOMORROW SCHOLARSHIP

 DEADLINE: December 1, 2024
AWARD VALUE: $16,000
CRITERIA: BMO Financial Group Leader of Tomorrow Scholarships will be offered to students who:

  • are Indigenous (Status, Non-Status, Métis, Inuit); 
  • have achieved a high school average of at least 90 per cent calculated on the basis of results in
    • English 30S or Français 30S
    • Mathematics 30S (either pre-calculus 30S or applied 30S only) 
    • the highest marks in three of Biology 30S, Chemistry 30S, Physics 30S, History 30F, Computer Science 30s, or a language at the 30S level other than those accepted for above; 
  • have demonstrated evidence of leadership qualities and future potential; 
  • have demonstrated evidence of a high level of communication skills; 
  • have a record of community involvement (e.g., school, local community city-wide, regional, national, international); 
  • have demonstrated evidence of special abilities other than those shown by academic results (e.g., artistic, athletic, or linguistic skills, literary accomplishments); 
  • have completed a University of Manitoba application for admission by the December 1 deadline, including payment of application fee.

Recipients will be required to present a minimum 90 per cent average based on those courses eligible for the University of Manitoba General Entrance Scholarships.

AWARD VALUE: $16,000
