Luke Santi Memorial Award for Student Achievement

 Deadline: May 31, 2022

Award Amount: $1,000

Who can apply?

  • Graduating high school student who has been accepted into a full-time academic program in Physical Sciences at a Canadian university in the fall
  • A minimum 80% average is required for this award based on copies of official high school transcripts
  • a demonstrated passion for physics outside of the normal academic environment (e.g. being a member of a local amateur astronomy club, volunteering with a physics association)
  • Demonstrated interest in a wide range of activities outside of physics (e.g. community involvement, sports, debating clubs, etc., including volunteer activities in service of others)

What will I have to do?

  • All applications must include:
    • A completed application form
    • Copies of your official high school transcript
    • Proof of acceptance into a full-time academic program in Physical Sciences at a Canadian University
    • Letter(s) of recommendation from a teacher, principal, professor, etc.

Tim McLean Apprenticeship Bursary

 Deadline: May 31, 2022

Award Amount: TBD

Who can apply?

  • The Tim McLean Memorial Bursary was established in memory of Tim McLean, an aspiring Aboriginal Manitoba apprentice interested in becoming a Motor Vehicle Mechanic. The bursary will be awarded to current Aboriginal apprentice(s) attending technical training with demonstrated financial need

ORVILLE ERICKSON MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIPS

 Deadline: May 25, 2022

Award Amount: Scholarships range from $500-$4,000

Who can apply? 

  • Citizens of Canada or landed immigrants with the intent of working in Canada
  • High school, CEGEP, or undergraduate students enrolled full-time in a recognized Canadian post-secondary educational institute

What will I have to do? 

  • Submit the following:
    • Application form (available online)
    • Three letters of reference
    • Official transcript from your last two years of study
    • Letter of acceptance (if applicable)

Canadian Hearing Services National Scholarship

 Deadline: May 24, 2022

Amount: Scholarships worth $3000 a year for full time students and $1000 a year for part-time students. Number of scholarships will be based on number of qualified applicants.

Who can apply?

  • Be Canadian citizens or permanent residents of Canada;
  • Have documented hearing loss of 50dB or greater, pure tone average, in each ear (50dB or greater in the left ear AND 50dB or greater in the right ear);
  • Be 17 years of age or older and attending an accredited post-secondary institution in the Fall of 2022 as first-time or returning students.

What will I have to do?

Eligibility is based on the overall assessment of the following application materials:

  • Completed and signed scholarship application form;
  • Photocopy proof of Canadian citizenship or permanent residency with date of birth;
  • At least one audiogram documenting hearing loss of 50dB or greater, pure tone average, in each ear (50dB or greater in the left ear AND 50dB or greater in the right ear); 
  • Proof of Fall 2022 acceptance to an accredited post-secondary institution; 
  • Community Involvement checklist, as outlined in Section 2 of application form; 
  • Two (2) Referral Forms submitted via email by your references as outlined in Section 3 of application form; and,
  • Typed 12-pt font, 250-word essay in English or French, or YouTube link or Dropbox shared link (NO Google Drive shared links) to a 2-minute video in ASL/LSQ, as outlined in Section 4 of application form.

RAINBOW STAGE SCHOLARSHIP

 Deadline: May 18, 2022 (Application) & May 20th, 2022 (Virtual Audition Tape)

Award Amount: Four scholarships, each worth $750

Who can apply?

  • Manitoba Residents in Grade 12 
  • Candidates must be able to demonstrate acceptance into a full-time, accredited post-secondary degree or diploma program that is directly related to their category of application, for the upcoming academic year.
  • Scholarship winners will only receive their award upon demonstrating proof and acceptance of such enrollment, and payment of tuition for the upcoming academic year.

MANITOBA YOUNG LIBERALS SCHOLARSHIP

 Deadline: May 17, 2022

Award Amount: 3 scholarships each worth $500

  • One $500 scholarship will be awarded to a student from Winnipeg 
  • One $500 scholarship will be awarded to a student from outside of Winnipeg
  • One $500 scholarship will be awarded to an Indigenous student

Who can apply?

  • The Manitoba Young Liberal Scholarships are open to youth aged 16 to 25 who are entering, or are currently enrolled in, a Manitoba post-secondary institution

What will I have to do?

  • Complete an application form
  • Write an essay 
    • The essay should discuss the applicant’s vision for the future of Manitoba, and answer the question, “If you were elected Premier of Manitoba, what would you do?”
    • Additional essay requirements: 1000 word maximum, word processed, double spaced, 12-point font (Arial or Times New Roman)

AGING MATTERS SCHOLARSHIP

 Deadline: May 15, 2022

Award Amount: $1500

Who can apply?

  • An existing college student or incoming freshman (to be enrolled in the Fall of 2022 in good academic standing)
  • Attending any 2 year or 4-year accredited college or university as a full-time student

What will I have to do?

  • Complete and submit the application form
  • Write a 1000 word or less essay on why aging matters to the applicant

MARK DICKOF MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

 Deadline: May 13, 2022

Award Amount: 2 awards each worth $250

  • One $250 award to a student or team of students in Urban Winnipeg
  • One $250 to a student or team of students from rural/northern Manitoba

Who can apply?

  • Open to any student or team of students (14-18) who can demonstrate positive leadership in addressing mental health and wellbeing among their peers through action, raising awareness, and or achieving greater sensitivity to and/or de-stigmatization of mental health and wellbeing.

What will I have to do?

  • Complete an essay of no longer than 500 words. The essay should outline how the applicant or applicants have engaged in actions, raised awareness, or fostered greater sensitivity and/or de-stigmatization in relation to mental health and wellbeing. This leadership can be directed either to their school community, their local community or their provincial community.
  • Include a brief letter of reference from a member of the community who can attest to the leadership and advocacy that has been demonstrated by the student or team of students in relation to mental health and wellness.

OUTSTANDING TAKE ACTION PROJECT AWARD

 Deadline: May 13, 2022

Award Amount: 4 Awards worth $250

Who can apply?

  • Be enrolled in and successfully complete Global Issues: Citizenship and Sustainability (40S) in the 2021-2022 school year
  • Students enrolled in second term must be expected to successfully complete the course by their teacher
  • Be graduating from a Manitoba school in June 2022 or returning to study at a Manitoba school in September 2022
  • Be a resident of Manitoba
  • Complete and submit an application 

What will I have to do?

  • Applicants must complete the online application which requires them to explain the following:
    • Summary of project
    • Concept (e.g.: originality, assessed need, etc.)
    • Scope and range of project (e.g.: Who did/will the project reach? How many people were/will be involved or influenced?)
    • Content (e.g.: How does the topic relate to the Areas of Inquiry? How did/will the project educate, inform, or raise awareness of an issue?)
    • Personal benefit (e.g.: What did you learn from doing this project/about the issue/about your community?)

THE PETER SCOURAS MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

 Deadline: May 7, 2022 *May not be going ahead for the 2022 year. Check back for updates*

Award Amount: $1,500

Who can apply?

  • Be graduating from a Manitoba high school in current year of application.
  • Applicant is planning to attend a post-secondary institution next year.
  • An academic standing of 70% average. Mid-Term transcripts are to be submitted with application.
  • Applicant is an active member of their High School's Rugby team.
  • Applicant is committed to pursuing rugby after graduating high school.

CREDIT UNION SCHOLAR ATHLETE AWARD

 Deadline: May 6, 2022

Award Amount: $1,000

Who can apply? 

  • Participate in a minimum of two (2) interscholastic MHSAA recognized athletic programs. 
  • Minimum average of eighty-five percent (85%) (2017-2018 school year). 
  • Must be taking a full course load, with at least two (2) 40S level courses. 
  • Grade 12 students only (second year grad 12 not eligible). 
  • Athletics, academics and citizenship taken into consideration. 

What will I have to do?

  • Write a 200-word essay on the importance of high school sport, and how you have benefited by being a part of school athletics. 
  • One Passport Size Photograph - (Head and shoulders) must accompany the application. (please ensure that the photo is securely attached to the application, not scanned photo's please) 
  • Two Character Reference Letters must be submitted.

CARPATHIA CREDIT UNION SCHOLARSHIP

Award Amount: Up to $6000

Who can apply?

  • Must be a member of Carpathia Credit Union for at least two years prior to graduation
  • Are currently attending high school and graduating in June 2022
  • Must attend an approved post-secondary institution in the fall of 2022

LM SCHOLARSHIP

 Deadline: May 1, 2022

Award Amount: $500

Who can apply?

  • To be eligible for this Scholarship you must:
    • Currently be enrolled or expects to be enrolled in a degree program (2 years of length or greater) by September. 
    • A student must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher and submit an answer to the essay question prior to the submission deadline. A student must be a US resident or a Canadian resident and must also attend a school in Canada or the US. 

What do I have to do?

  • Write an Essay (no word limit) about a situation you have been involved in or someone you know has been involved in where better safety procedures would have prevented an injury. Explain in detail what safety procedures you believe should have been in place to prevent the injury and how they would have prevented the injury.

Amount: Five awards worth $1500

Who can apply?

  • High school students graduating in 2022 who are focusing on Arts, Creative Arts, or Music in their post-secondary school studies.
  • We are looking for students who also have community and volunteer experience.
